Shifters and Shift Controllers  NO TCM/PCM/TCU NEEDED

Typical time to ship is 1 week, thank you for your patience.

Here is some general TECH info for the Aisin Warner series electrical controlled 4spd auto Wiring:

Jeep AW4 common solenoid wire colors is as follows, double check before cutting:

Trans Harness: Sol #1- Lt Blue/White, Sol #2- Violet/White, TC Sol- White/Black

OBD I TCU wires are the same colors as the trans harness.

OBD II TCU wires are as follows: Sol #1- White, Sol #2- Orange/White, TC Sol- D.Blue/White

GM 4L60e/4L80e/6L80e, Toyota/Lexus A340's, Nissan RE4R01A vary between models. Refer to you FSM to verify.

Overview:

You do not need a factory computer to use these shifters, just put the factory floor shifter in a OD/D and shift your auto manually.
Finding which transmission wires to connect controller to:
It's recommended that you have help with this for safety.
Using masking tape tags mark the three transmission control wires “A”, “B”, and “C”.
With the engine running and floor shift selector in Drive. Connect a 12V+ jumper to the wire that you marked “A”.
If this is the #1 solenoid wire you should feel the transmission shift down to 1st gear and easily move forward when the throttle is applied.
If this is the #2 solenoid wire the transmission will still feel boggy.
If this is the Torque Converter Lockup wire the engine should stall.
Repeat this test on all three wires to confirm which wire is which.
Mark the wires with the appropriate solenoid # or “TC” to know which wire to connect to the supplied harness as noted above.
On the Rail Shifters the #1 Solenoid connects to the Blue wire, the #2 Solenoid connects to the Yellow wire.
The Red wire is of course a 12V+ fused power source connected to be on when ignition is on.
Using a 2PDT (ON-ON) (6 terminal switch) connect the 2 wires from the trans. to the center poles and then connect the 2 ECU shift solenoid wires to one side and the 2 Rail shifter wires to the other side, see below option #1.
A SPDT (ON-OFF-ON) (3 terminal switch) is used in Opt. 1 for switching the TC lock up On, Off or TCM controlled, connect the wire from the transmission to the center pole.

Aisin-Warner Shift Solenoids Sequence
1st - #1 On #2 Off
2nd - #1 On #2 On
3rd - #1 Off #2 On
4th - #1 Off #2 Off
Transmission Harness wire colors match the OBDI colors and are located on the drivers side of the transmission.
These wires are ajoining on the trans harness plug.

On OBD I model XJ's the following wire colors generally apply:
Sol. #1- Blue striped wire
Sol #2-  Purple striped wire
TC lock- White striped wire

OBD II wiring notes:  Please verify before cutting wires.
Common wire colors at the TCM are:
Sol. #1-WT-(white)
Sol. #2-OR/WT(orange w/white stripe)
TC lock-DB/WT(dark blue w/white stripe
The TCM on these later XJ's is on the drivers side under the steering column.

This is from a post on YotaTech:
With the No 2 solenoid malfunctioning, and the tranny lever in "L", the truck will stay in 1st gear... no matter how high the revs are.
With the No 2 solenoid malfunctioning, and the tranny lever in "2", the truck will start in 1st, and stay in 1st gear until the revs and speed are right for it to shift to 3rd gear. (2nd gear will be skipped)

With the No 2 solenoid malfunctioning, and the tranny lever in "D", the truck will start in 1st, and stay in 1st gear until the revs and speed are right for it to shift into O/D. (2nd and 3rd gears will be skipped)
